Age Chart of Lumedyne SN

We are so very proud of the longevity of the Lumedyne brand of electronic flash equipment.  We have proven for over 45 years to be building the highest quality portable flashes in the world.  No other brand of portable flash in the world can attest to having as many pieces of older equipment still in service today!

With that in mind, the following chart can help you to determine when your Lumedyne was born.  We have performed tens of thousands of upgrades to the items that may still be in service to make them faster or have other modern transformations, so it is possible that the serial number no longer confirms the internal condition, but it's a good starting place.

How Old Is My Gear?

To obtain an approximate age for your Lumedyne equipment, locate the serial number on each piece, and compare against the chart below. Note that this does not reflect possible upgrade or rebuild dates on your equipment. If a battery has been refurbished/rebuilt by Lumedyne, the Warranty period is Reset as of the date of the rebuild, not the origination date shown below.

Prior to 2013, all of the products counted sequentially regardless of what kind of product it was.  In 2013 we started a new serial number system along with a new database system for the manufacturing side of the business.  After that date, the equipment can be tracked exactly at Lumedyne but each item and each variation of items gets indiviidual batches of serial numbers starting with the Catalog Number and a new serial number of 10,000+ so that the date is no longer relevant to the serial number.
