Warning Price Increase January 1, 2007
Here at Lumedyne, we would like to end the year of 2006 with a giant Thank You to all of those who have supported us this last year and the last 34 years before. As 2007 celebrates our 35th year building professional portable flash systems for photographers, we are proud to continue to develop the world’s best portable flash systems. We continue to expand our horizons while never losing focus on one sole purpose, servicing professional portable flash equipment.
It’s true we build flashes for other industries as well but please don’t blame us for the speeding ticket photo you may get in the mail one day, we just build the flash parts. We may also help diagnose skin conditions before they are visible and might have flashed you for that driver’s license photo that was so bad (but the exposure was perfect). Our equipment also is used to explore and document the most diverse regions and objects in the world, but that’s all in a day’s work for Lumedyne professional flash equipment. So is working the same consistent way, for year after year of weddings on most weekends.
All of this comes with a cost. I have watched the price of Lumedyne’s go from $600 per system to over $2300 per system. It’s true that everything has evolved a lot in the last 20 years, but I saw it happen in so many small steps.
Now, after two years, as of January 1 of 2007, we will see another notable price increase on Lumedyne equipment across the line.
I know that the value is built inside our plain black boxes and we guarantee it. No other company, no matter how large or famous will guarantee their equipment as specifically and fully for as long as we guarantee all Lumedyne equipment. It’s only the fact that I have spent the last 20 years of my life dealing with mostly ecstatic customers, that keeps our Plain Jane appearances and utilitarian approach to marketing. Yet we do guarantee the best service.
The other companies do not offer 1-800 telephone service and a human to answer the phone. They do not offer free loaner equipment and/or rush service while under a two year full warrantee. They do not guarantee the flashes per charge from their batteries from “day one” much less for 100 months as we do with our pro-rate warranty, and Batteries are fully covered like the rest of our gear for the first two years. They do not offer cost effective Rentals for customers who want to try the equipment or who just need Lumedyne equipment for a special job. All of this is available for EVERY photographer without having to join a group or pay any annual dues.
No other company can claim to be better than Lumedyne. We can give you a Flash Head weighing a little over a half pound that can work with professional light modifiers, provide generous even light coverage, provide modeling power from Battery or AC Power and can flash from 3ws to 2,400ws of flash power depending on any number of possibilities from the Power Pack System. We offer slow recycling equal to our competitors’ fastest settings and we offer blazing fast options that are unmatched. While no other company can offer that, we could also run up to 12 flash heads of various power levels from such a system which is also unparalleled by any competitors. Lastly and perhaps most importantly, for about 7 pounds of weight and often less than 400ws of power, you can match power with sunlight even while using light modifiers for outdoor portraits that look great any time of day. Yet, no other brand offers as many possibilities in their portable flash systems that can provide you with the most versatility in the world.
Equipment that’s built to be able to handle 2,400ws and recycle rates up to four times faster than other brands will easily take the normal wear and tear of the real world and can still be small and light enough to be carried out there too.
As if that were not enough, every claim, rating or statement we print or produce is guaranteed even if we have to eat a print mistake. That’s everything from recycle times at 100% (not when the ready light comes on) to the real flashes per charge from the batteries (with the 100 month pro-rate warranty) to the actual size and weight, to flash duration… everything. We replace any “lemon” units that have failed three times within a year while under warranty because it doesn’t happen often enough to fight with those units and the photographer deserves a new one at that point.
We’ve proven in 35 years that the fact that the equipment is guaranteed to do what we claim is the real reason you should invest in Lumedyne equipment. The fact that we commit to a lifetime of personal support, is why you’ll want to keep it.
We enjoy building truly hand crafted and American made products. We sell them around the world and continue to grow and diversify. Yet, we are also the only family owned and operated portable flash system available. You can speak directly to the boss, D.J. We recognize that our products, even as good as they are, are only useful to the educated and skilled photographer who knows how to create the pictures they want by using off camera lighting equipment on location. We do not advertise often or spend a lot of money on our equipment’s appearances but we will invest in education. Look for a lighting seminar near you. I teach that there is no correct way to light any picture, rather many images you can create anytime and anywhere when you know how to control the lighting and camera.
Photography is the capture of light and only with artificial light will photographers ever have complete control of the light, so learn to use it, develop your own style and become a better photographer. At least one day you’ll have an opportunity to use our products and will likely fall in love with our portable equipment that does what it says it will do, and does it well.
